Brass & Brunch was born from something very real for me—my love for food and brass bands, and the way both have shaped my life. Food saved my life. Music healed me. — Jayda
There is something about the sound of a brass band that reaches you beyond words. Whether it’s following a second line through the streets of New Orleans or gathering in moments of celebration and remembrance, it brings a kind of joy, release, and connection that stays with you.
That feeling is what I wanted to honor. That feeling became even more meaningful when this vision came to me on the day of my grandfather’s transition—making this experience not only a celebration of culture, but a reflection of love, legacy, and the moments that stay with us.
Brass & Brunch is my way of bringing those elements together—creating a space where culture is not just seen, but felt. Where the music moves through you, the food nourishes you, and the energy reminds you why New Orleans is so special.
This experience is also about honoring the people who keep it all flowing—the musicians and the culinary artists who carry the culture forward every day through their gifts.
Every detail is intentional. Every moment is meant to be experienced. Brass & Brunch is not just an event to attend. It’s something you step into.
A celebration of culture, flavor, and the spirit that keeps it all fleauxing.
Culinary Experience
The culinary experience is curated by Creative & Chef Jayda of Jayda’s Heartful Company, offering a refined and culturally rooted journey through New Orleans cuisine. Guests will indulge in a thoughtfully designed menu while also experiencing contributions from invited culinary cousins—chefs and creatives presenting signature dishes that reflect their unique culinary voice.
The result is a dining experience that celebrates flavor, community, and storytelling.
Brass Experience
The brass experience is designed to highlight the richness and energy of New Orleans brass culture, bringing guests into the rhythm, movement, and spirit of the music.
Through live brass band performances and curated cultural moments, guests will experience special appearances by the Lady Rollers and Men Rollers, along with the Zulu Tramps and the powerful tradition of the Masked Indians, featuring Young Big Chief Black of the Black Flame Hunters and Big Queen Recie of the Creole Wild West Indian Gang.
Honoring Experience
As a signature element of Brass & Brunch, we highlight and honor individuals who have made a lasting impact on the culture and community of New Orleans.
This year, we proudly honor Chef Linda Green, also known as the “Ya-Ka-Mein Lady,” a beloved culinary influence whose presence has been felt across the city for decades. Known for serving as a staple street vendor along second lines and cultural gatherings, her contributions have nourished both the community and the culture. She is also the founder of the Lady Rollers and Men Rollers, further extending her legacy through social and pleasure club traditions that bring joy to the city on Second Line Sundays.
Together, these elements create an immersive experience rooted in culture, connection, and celebration.
